Last week we were very lucky to have Harold and Charlotte from Life Ed visit school. When we went to see them on the Life Ed bus, Harold and Charlotte spoke to use about food nutrition and how to be healthy. We learnt what happens to the food we eat and how our bodies use it. We also learnt what the top 10 brain foods are. Harold showed us which foods we should eat most of and which foods we should eat least of. Finally we learnt how to tell is foods are good for us or not, and what the main ingredients in the foods we eat are.

Mrs Ackley brought her chickens to school for us to have a look at, to hold and to pet. She has 17 chickens. They are all rescued from lots of places. Her biggest chicken is Susan, she is 3kg and very grumpy. we were allowed to stroke her, but she was too big to hold. We were able to hold Fluffy, the brown chicken and Shorty, the miniature chicken. She was the smallest and only weight 500g. Shorty, even laid an egg in the cage. We were able to hold the egg, it was really warm.

The children in Ruma Wha spent some time this year preparing and creating these amazing seats for everybody to sit on and enjoy some outside time.
To make these seats the children had to sand the wooden semi-circles, fill in any gaps in the wood they could see and sand it all smooth again.
Following this they had to paint the seats white, then they drew the designs on them.
Next they had to paint the designs using paint that was suitable to be outside.
Finally with the help of an adult the children sprayed varnish on the seats to ensure that the designs would be protected from the weather.
These seats can be found in the junior area of the school.

In Ruma Wha, we have been visiting Khandallah School to take swimming lessons. Every Thursday we get the bus to the pool and back again. When we are in the pool, we have a number of instructors who teach us in groups how to swim or how to improve our swimming skills. When we get back from the pool it is Morning Tea and we are all very hungry.

At the end of Term 3 we were able to design patterns for our own t shirts. We made these using wax crayon. After we placed the wax crayon on the t shirt we very carefully ironed the pattern to melt the wax onto the t shirt. When we had all made our t shirts we wore them to the class fashion parade.

We have been looking at fairy tales in reading and writing. Instead of writing our fairy tale the children of Ruma Wha have planned a movie board and then made a stop motion animation of their own fairy tale. To do this, the children had to plan the story, create the set (background), arrange the characters and then create the movie using iMotion. Here are a few scenes from the movies that have been created.
